Menlo on my Flickr

I've been doing some more live band shots. Mainly for a new band that some of my friends have formed. You can check em out at www.myspace.com/menlomusic .

If you shoot Nikon and have been living under a rock then you may not have heard that Nikon will be releasing a new fast prime next month. After being confined to the AF 50mm f/1.8D for a while on the cropped DX sensor, I can't wait to try out the new AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G. Yes, its a AF-S lens which means it incorporates the "silent wave motor" for internal auto-focusing. Making it compatible with the D40, D40x, and D60 models that lacked auto-focusing capabilities with the 50mm. This new lens will take the place of the 50mm in many camera bags because it makes up for the crop factor associated with all DX format slrs giving shooters the point of view that you would get with a 50mm lens on a FX format digital body or 35mm film body. The list price for this lens is set at $199. The closest lens to this on the market already is the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 HSM which sells for around $420. Taking into consideration that the sigma does have a faster aperture at f/1.4, but not everyone has to have 1.4. f/1.8 fast enough to be effective in most any lighting situation. I was getting ready to buy the Sigma 30mm until I heard of this lens. I think that if you own a d40, d40x, d60, or any cropped sensor nikon DSLR for that matter and don't already have a fast prime in this range that you need this lens.
